WORKSHOP FIRE Struck on 10-24-07

Fireworks Photo -- Melted ductwork above the charred drill press.

Luckily, Kitty Piper stayed out of harms way.

We were lucky. A wiring fault in our garage/workshop sparked a fire the morning of October 24, 2007. But we were home, reacted quickly, and thanks to neighbors who heard our calls for help, and the fire fighters who arrived swiftly, the flames were kept contained inside the garage

Considerable smoke and soot damage occurred to tools and equipment, as well as quite a bit of charring in the laundry corner, the roof, and above a small office space. Water damage, too, from the fire hoses!

Sadly, my dear old "mascat" KIDIOM succumbed to the smoke as well, and he's now pushing up daisies in the lower forty, near a sunny spot where he used to love napping.

fireLathe.jpg (8254 bytes) It took a full month to pull my act together, replace my lathe, and set up temporary shop underneath an old craft fair awning in the backyard. But today things are moving more smoothly, utilizing space in my old jewelry shop as well.

I'm grateful, and hopeful, for the future! And thankful for all my loyal customers who continue to shop from me here on my website, and from my eBay and Etsy listings, too.

THANKS to everyone!                                                      Home
