Felting is a technique that creates a molded or dense fabric by interlocking fibers. Heat and agitation will do the job (as when your lovely woolen sweater exits the laundry seven sizes smaller). Or you can use a felting tool to achieve the effect more deliberately, for embellishment, or creating something 3-dimensional.

It has an ergonomic shape that feels great and protects your fingers from fatigue, compared to any other needle holder, or just holding onto the needle itself. And the standard 3-1/2" needle (included) is easily replaced -- opening the handle for access is (almost literally) a snap!

This is my first attempt at needle felting an image. (...still a work in progress...later I'll try my hand at 3D felting...)

For me, the greatest joy of woodturning happens when the shape emerges from a block of wood,

as if by its own design, capturing the moment when art meets craft.
