This pen design made me a finalist in the 2001 NICHE Awards category of WOOD
-- Turned. Last year you could see it on the cover of the 2007 Annual Art
Essentials Catalog, disguised as a dragonfly! It's an old-fashioned
pen, but a new favorite of artists and calligraphers!

The universal
nib holder inside my one-of-a-kind wood handle will accept any Speedball
nib, and one is included with each pen. It may be a new or slightly
used C2, C5, fine line drawing nib, or other style. The elegantly long wood handle
is measured for length without the nib, and features my gently ergo-flared
grip for comfort and control.

vary from about 2-1/4" to 2-3/4." |
This pen stand will support my tall rollerball
desk pen, or any of my other straight or tapered-grip pens.
The base is felted so as not to mar the surface of your fine writing
desk. Shape and contours will vary greatly.
(My heaviest "big dog" pen tends to topple.
And dip grip or flared pens will wobble in this stand. They are not
recommended.)

This pen fills the needs of the traveling
writer--it's lightweight enough to clip in a pocket, slender enough to carry in
a purse. The laminate is cut at an angle to produce this exotic, swirly
look.
Turn at the tip, the point retracts.

Ergonomic
"DIP GRIP" PEN

My customers love this unique pen--uncommon among wooden
writing instruments. That's because it's carved as well as turned.
My triangular "dip grip" requires lots of extra handwork
to achieve. The result is a fit that feels great -- especially for
people who have a touch of arthritis or trouble gripping those thin,
slippery, metal pens.
Operates the same as the Turn-Tip pen. Metal parts are either
gold/titanium plated, or chrome plated for long-lasting beauty.

BIT ABOUT BURLS

Buckeye Burl direct from the tree.
|
Burl is "a warty growth on the trunk of a tree [which] when
sliced ... produces speckled burr," according to Collins Good Wood
Handbook. Woodworker Bryce Taylor continues, "Burls have a
baffling conglomeration of twisty bits of wood, pockets of gum, voids and
generally not much definite or solid grain." Those are apt
descriptions, and the result is a wood that is truly a challenge to turn!

inlay with turquoise chips, grind, and polish to a glassy finish. Those inlaid
